To protect softness and print quality, follow these four steps for your Sincerely Cozy bamboo swaddle (95% rayon from bamboo, 5% spandex):
- Machine wash cold with like colors.
- Use gentle cycle and mild detergent.
- Tumble dry low or lay flat to dry.
- Avoid bleach and high heat.
Why bamboo rayon needs gentle care
Our Bamboo Swaddle Care Guide explains that bamboo rayon responds differently to heat, detergents and agitation than cotton does. According to the guide, hot water can break down the fibers and cause shrinkage, and aggressive washing can weaken the fibers over time, leading to pilling or loss of softness. A gentle routine is how you keep the fabric feeling soft.
Washing
Wash cold with like colors, on the gentle cycle, with a mild detergent. The care guide recommends a fragrance-free, dye-free baby detergent, and suggests skipping fabric softeners, which it says leave a coating that reduces breathability. It also notes that high-speed spinning creates friction that leads to pilling, and that washing the swaddle inside a mesh laundry bag helps protect it from snagging on zippers, velcro or buttons from other items in the load. If your machine has an extra rinse option, the guide suggests using it to remove detergent residue.
Drying
Tumble dry low, or lay flat to dry. The guide says air drying, flat on a rack or hung over a shower rod, is the gentlest option, and that if you use a dryer you should choose the lowest heat setting and take the swaddle out while it is still slightly damp. It also recommends skipping dryer sheets.
What to avoid, and why
- Bleach. Avoid it. The care guide says even oxygen bleach can weaken bamboo fibers and cause yellowing over time.
- High heat. Avoid it in both the wash and the dryer. The guide calls high heat the number one enemy of bamboo fabric, saying it causes shrinkage, stiffening and faster wear.
- Fabric softeners and dryer sheets. The guide says they leave a residue that compromises breathability.
Keeping the print sharp
Our care steps exist to protect softness and print quality, so the best way to keep your print looking its best is to follow them every time: cold water, like colors, gentle cycle, mild detergent, low heat or air drying, and no bleach. See all six prints on the swaddle collection page.
Stains and how often to wash
The care guide suggests rinsing stains with cold water as soon as possible, because hot water can set protein-based stains such as milk or formula, then spot cleaning with a gentle soap. It also suggests washing after every 2 to 3 uses, or right away after any incident involving fluids, and keeping two or three swaddles in rotation so there is always a clean one ready.
What customers report
Sincerely Cozy designs its swaddles to stay soft after repeated washes. That is our own claim, so here is what customers wrote in their Amazon reviews: one called the blanket "super soft and vibrant color," another described it as "very light and stretchy," and another said the headband "can adjust sizes by tying it." These are individual customer reviews, not guarantees of how your own swaddle will wear.
